九潭社区位于广东省惠州市博罗县园洲镇，是该镇下辖的社区。明崇祯二年（1629年）以前，这里叫罗埠圩，归博罗县石湾巡检司管辖。相传某年中元节（孟兰节）那天，十个牧童到沙河拐弯处的深潭里游泳，九人溺亡，人们由此称此潭为「九仔潭」，后简称九潭。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
九潭圩历来在博罗县境内。1949年12月起属九潭乡；1952年7月划入第十一区铁场区公所；1956年11月重新归九潭乡；1958年10月设九潭大队，归长宁公社；1959年8月转属铁场人民公社。1978年5月九潭片自铁场分出，另设九潭人民公社；1983年11月公社改称九潭区，原新村大队并入，合为九潭乡；1986年1月撤区建镇，乡改设居民委员会，仍属九潭镇。2003年12月九潭镇整体并入园洲镇，此处遂称园洲镇九潭社区。[2][3]
