城中街道是广东省肇庆市四会市下辖的街道，位于四会市中部，是市区的组成部分，辖10个社区居民委员会和6个村民委员会[1][2]。街道设立于1994年，名称取自其处在城区中心之意[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

1994年4月26日，广东省人民政府批准撤销四会市的四会、清塘两个镇，改设龙甫镇以及贞山、城中、东城3个街道办事处，城中街道由此设立[1]。此后辖下的居民组织陆续调整：2004年5月，花街社区从城中社区分出；2004年10月，仓岗、沙尾邨两个村民委员会改为社区居民委员会；2012年11月，高狮村民委员会也改为社区居民委员会[1]。

地理环境[edit]

据博雅地名网引述的街道概况，街道距广州70多公里，距佛山60多公里，面积46平方千米[1][2]。辖区内的下布、铁场、上沙、白沙、高布、河西六村原属清塘镇，1994年起划归城中街道[3][4][5][6][7][8]。

人口民族[edit]

街道概况载明，2005年的统计中，常住总人口为93071人，分非农业79520人、农业13551人，流动人口约3.1万人[2]。第七次全国人口普查结果为8.01万人，在四会市各街道、镇中排第3位[1]。

经济[edit]

街道概况称，城中街道是四会市蔬菜、水产、禽畜和花卉的产区之一，也是柑桔销售和批发的集散地。2005年前后，水稻种植面积9659亩，蔬菜3200多亩，水产养殖6300多亩，柑桔近2000亩，花卉基地1500亩；下布的兰花、铁场的莲藕与蛋鸭、高布的虎纹蛙养殖是街道建成的农业示范基地。仓丰柑桔批发市场占地3万多平方米[2]。

仓丰大道旁建有城中工业区，面积3000亩，落户的中外企业有50多家，产品涵盖服装、针织、鞋类、皮具、印刷、陶瓷、机械等30多类；2005年一年，街道新引进工业项目26个，到位资金3.44亿元[2]。

名胜古迹[edit]

四会抗日阵亡将士纪念碑在城中社区的中山公园内，1940年建，用于纪念1939年在四会马房抗击日军阵亡的守军将士，占地约56平方米，坐北向南[1]。

彭泽民故居在白沙村，是一座清代农村大屋，1987年经当时的四会县政府拨款重修；2002年4月先列为市级文物保护单位，到2012年10月，又进入第七批省级名单[3][9][10]。关于始建年代，博雅地名网记为清末，百度百科记为中华民国时期，维基百科记为清代[3][9][10]。

著名人物[edit]

彭泽民（1877年—1956年），字锦泉，生于白沙村，早年侨居马来西亚，追随孙中山参加同盟会活动，后来是中国农工民主党的创始人之一，曾任该党中央副主席[11][12]。
