民国时期称下新宝堡，解放初期设农会，1962年组建生产队，1983年建乡，1987年改称村民委员会，1989年改设管理区办事处，1999年起复称村民委员会，沿用至今。[1]
地名由来[edit]
传说从前有一位地主得子，家人欢喜，给孩子取名新宝，名字后来渐渐成了村名。[2]

新宝村年平均气温21.8摄氏度，年降雨量约1477至1985毫米，属南亚热带季风气候。[1]
经济[edit]
村里种植的主要经济作物是粉蕉、柑橘；特色收入来源有商贸、加工业、反季节蔬菜。据同一网站所载，上一年全村农村经济总收入2067万元。[1]
