村里的作物，以水稻、荔枝为主；村民约2914人，辖区面积4.34平方千米[1]。

年均气温19.3℃，年降水量约1671毫米，属南亚热带季风型气候[1]。

地名由来[edit]

村子在一座山的背后，从镇上去要绕过那座山，当地因此叫它“山边”（博雅地名网原文如此）[2]。

历史沿革[edit]

山背村的建制变化依次是：1961年为大队，1983年改作乡，1986年前后组建村民委员会，1989年设管理区办事处，1999年定为现名[1]。

荣誉[edit]

  • 2020年12月，名列「2020年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」[1]
  • 2026年1月，被评为「广东省第二批百千万工程典型村」[1]
