博雅地名网记载，村民多姓吴，很早以前自福建省的彭村迁居于此，为纪念老家，取名彭村[1]。

荣誉[edit]

2021年12月，彭村村获广东省爱卫会授予2021年广东省卫生村称号，并被民政部办公厅确定为村级议事协商创新的全国试点之一；2023年11月成为全国乡村治理示范村（第三批）；2024年1月获2023年度全国示范性老年友好型社区命名；2026年1月为广东省第二批「百千万工程」典型村[1]。
