村名的来历：村子对面有一块白色大石，村民就以“白石”立村名，村委会驻本村。[1]

建制沿革：1953年，白石、乌坭坝、船埠等地合设一乡，乡政府在白石；人民公社时期（1958年）为白石大队；1987年设管理区，1999年起为村委会。[1]

广东省第三批「百千万工程」典型村镇（2026年3月认定）。[1]
