社区居委会成立于2000年10月，原属石城镇，2004年5月廉城镇撤销、设街道办后归城南街道。[1]

概况[edit]

据博雅地名网所载介绍，社区分4个居民小组，居住人口约1.5万人，面积0.98平方公里，廉江大道与石安公路穿过辖区。辖区内先后建起美景花园、水美小区、芽英小区等住宅小区，并有数家电器厂。[1]

荣誉[edit]

新江社区列入2018年和2020年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单，公布时间分别为2019年9月和2020年12月。[1]
