社区居委会成立于2000年10月，原属石城镇，2004年5月廉城镇撤销、设街道办后归城南街道。[1]

据博雅地名网所载介绍，社区分4个居民小组，居住人口约1.5万人，面积0.98平方公里，廉江大道与石安公路穿过辖区。辖区内先后建起美景花园、水美小区、芽英小区等住宅小区，并有数家电器厂。[1]
