东湖村是南三镇下辖的行政村，1983年由湖海、调东、北涯三个大队合并而成，村名各取调东、湖海一字[1][2]。

历史沿革[edit]

1950年这一带属巴东乡；1952年设湖海乡，属吴川县第九区（南三区），1955年归雷东县四区。1957年湖海乡并入巴东乡；1958年原湖海乡分设湖海、调东两个大队，隶南三公社。1961年从两队划出部分村庄，另设北涯大队。1983年三个大队合并为东湖乡，1984年6月坡头区成立后属坡头区。1987年称东湖村委会，隶南三镇，1990年称管理区，1999年改称村民委员会，沿用至今[2]。

2023年11月，东湖村入选「广东百千万工程首批典型县镇村」[1]。
