历史沿革[edit]
社区1978年从荔城镇划出，作为荔城镇的一个行政村，叫五街道；1985年五街道一分为二，另筹建七街道，1986年正式挂牌，名为第七街道居民委员会。此后名称几经变更：1995年7月为荔城东湖居委会，1999年8月获增城市民政局批准定名东湖居民委员会，2002年起为东湖社区居民委员会。[1]
2024年11月，东湖社区被认定为广州市充分就业社区。[1]
