月山镇在广东省江门市开平市东北部，东、北两面与鹤山市相邻，南接水口镇，西邻翠山湖省级产业转移工业园，距开平市区约18公里。[3][4]镇域面积121.12平方千米，现辖2个社区、18个行政村，镇政府设在月山圩。[1][3]2003年，原水井镇并入，成为今日的月山镇。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

镇名取自镇区一带的半月形山岗，据称定名于清乾隆末年（1795年）。清代这里属古博都；民国时期先后归开平县十区、水口区和四区。[3]

新中国成立后，这里先是四区的一部分（1950年），后划入九区（1952年）；1958年同水井、水口一道组成水口公社，两年后分出月山公社。1979年月山、水井各自成社，1983年月山改设区，1986年区改为镇。[2]到2003年10月，月山与水井两镇合并。[2][3]

地理环境[edit]

地形以平原和丘陵为主，境内有潭江支流，大小水库共56座。[3]交通方面，开阳高速、江罗高速和省道S273、国道G325复线在镇域内通过，翠山湖大道东延线通往西面的翠山湖科技产业园区。[4]

人口民族[edit]

据第七次全国人口普查，月山镇常住人口约3.43万人，在开平市各街道、乡镇中居第4位。[2]此前的概况资料写作总人口4.65万，并说海外、港澳台同胞有4万多人。[3]

经济[edit]

镇政府的介绍称，全镇有工业企业146家，其中规模以上30家、产值超亿元的7家，月山石头、白石头和水井三处工业集中区聚集着医药制品、水暖卫浴、先进材料等产业。[4]镇内的广东联一水产科技发展有限公司取得“省级潭江大刺鳅原种场”资质，“绿皇香鸡”进入“开平优品”名录，“参皇鸡”和“参皇鸡蛋”获香港优质“正”认证。[4]

农业方面，早年的概况资料提到桥头村一带的千亩果苗场和以养殖业为主的生产基地，[3]水井一带自1990年代起种植荷兰豆，面积逐年增加。[2]

文化[edit]

博健小学创办于1903年，由华侨捐建，2019年被列为广东省文物保护单位；梁嘉、梁寒光故居在博健村联兴村，2020年公布为开平市第五批文物保护单位；横江村有横江绍贤学校旧址。[2][4]

水井片区的万隆客栈革命纪念馆被江门市用作党员教育基地；水井墟庙仔山上的水井革命烈士纪念碑，则由开平市列为爱国主义教育基地。[4]

著名人物[edit]

“潘高寿”创始人潘百世、潘应世兄弟是桥头萃龙村人；国医大师邓铁涛出生于钱岗石蛟村；油画家罗工柳是北一三和村人。[4]梁嘉（1912—2009）曾任中国科学院广州分院、广东省科学院院长。[2]
