沙头社区在均安镇政府以南约2公里，距顺德区政府所在地大良18公里，南面与江门市新会区荷塘相邻，面积3.89平方千米[1][2]。

历史与地名[edit]

南宋初年已有人在此耕种；村旁有清澈小溪，溪底黄沙发亮，初名沙溪，后嫌“溪”字窄小，改称沙头[3]。宋代有黄氏迁入开垦，另有区、麦、梁等姓居住[2][4]。

人口与经济[edit]

社区下辖东壁、庆云、五显、良村、东升、沙路、新联、鹅洋八个自然村，有居民1100多户、常住人口4400多人；2004年工农业总产值12835万元[2]。2023年11月，沙头入选广东“百千万工程”首批典型县镇村[1]。

名胜古迹[edit]

沙头黄氏大宗祠建于三百多年前，墙体用蚝壳砌成，1986年大修，是社区最古老的祠堂[4]。冰玉堂在沙头社区，由旅外自梳女筹建，1950年竣工，是省级文物保护单位[5]。
