金溪社区是里水镇的主城区社区，在历史上属南海县金利都（司）的桃子堡[1]。

其中金利、横岗两地在清康熙二十五年（1686年）被划入花县，同治年间（1862至1874年）又划回南海[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

民国16年（1927年）归南海县第二区桃子堡；民国18年归南海警察二区金溪分署；民国25年到1953年是第二区金溪乡；1953至1956年为第九区联胜乡；1957至1958年属和顺乡的联胜片；1958年底以后，先后隶属东风（官窑）公社和里和公社，之后几经调整[1]。
