简村社区位于佛山市南海区西樵镇，在西樵山以西约2公里，面积约2.1平方公里。村子南宋嘉定三年（1210年）开村，因开村者姓简而得名；这里是近代民族缫丝工业创办人陈启沅的家乡。[1][2][5]

历史沿革[edit]

1927年归简村堡管，1949年属简官乡；土改后并入岭中乡，合作化时办起联星农业生产合作社。1958年10月，它是岭中大队的一部分；1961年8月联星大队从岭中分出，直到1977年简村大队才从爱国大队分出。[3]

1983年底成立简村乡，其后改称行政村、管理区；南海市人民政府于1999年3月25日批准设立村民委员会。2011年3月，南海区人民政府批复撤销村民委员会，改设简村社区居民委员会。[3]

简村社区是第三批广东省历史文化名镇名村之一（2012年5月公布）。[1]

人口民族[edit]

社区共有10个村民小组，其中户籍人口2528人，流动人口为1755人。[2]

经济[edit]

村民依水而居，水陆交通便利，自古是岭南水乡。2010年，全村98家工商企业创造的工农业总产值为2.9亿元，农民人均年收入11792元；同年村子被评为「广东省卫生村」。2011年，简村配合锦湖片区改造，拆除了旧开发区的非住宅物业。[2]

2019年9月，简村社区进入广东省2018年度「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单；2026年3月，被认定为广东省第三批「百千万工程」典型村。[1]

名胜古迹[edit]

陈启沅及其家族为奉祀先人、纪念继祖父陈绮亭，于1887年建绮亭陈公祠，2002年公布为广东省文物保护单位，祠内设陈启沅纪念馆。祠旁保存着陈启沅兴建的家族住宅群「百豫坊」等13座镬耳屋遗迹。[4]

陈启沅1873年在家乡创办继昌隆缫丝厂，是中国第一家民族资本机器缫丝厂，产品远销欧美。[5]
