村在沙头堡以北，因而称北村。[1]

水产养殖以加洲鲈、吻鱼为主，工业做五金、服装与印刷，企业50多家，并设有一处把这三个行业集中起来的工业园。[1]

文化[edit]

社区获得过广东省卫生村、民主法治村、十好和谐文明村、五星级体育强村、生态示范村等称号。[1]

  • 冯夏威（1876年—1905年）：沙头镇北村乡六约坊人，早年父母双亡，1898年只身渡洋到墨西哥做工。[2]
