村名各取邻近的海心沙、寿亭沙一字而成，同时是村民的自治组织。[1]

村在九江镇西南的小岛上，东面与上西村隔江相对，西南与鹤山市隔江相望；四周环水，远看像江上的一艘大船。[2]

村民以种植经济作物和养鱼为生。[2]
