朝东村处在祖庙街道的中心地段，东边以南海区桂城的军桥涌为界，南面是永新村，北面是东升村。全村面积约0.7平方千米，合960多亩。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

1958年10月，环市人民公社辖下设石角生产大队；1967年改名朝东。1984年成立朝东乡政府，1987年8月改设村民委员会，1989年又成为环市镇的派出机构管理区办事处，1999年4月重设村民委员会。禅城区成立后该村属环市镇，2003年9月环市改设街道，2006年6月起归祖庙街道。[3]

人口[edit]

博雅地名网载，村内常住1024户约3520人，暂住约2万人；下设朝一、朝二、大围、大豆、下石、上石、大塘、栅下、果房9个村民小组（股份经济合作社）。[2]
