华里西村在司马浦镇镇区北面，练江中游南岸，原名下尾欧村，面积2.957平方千米，有1516户、9386人。[1]先祖欧姓由达濠下尾村迁来，村子与贵屿镇的华里东村相邻，村前练江环绕，形似一对花鲤，“花”“华”、“鲤”“里”谐音，村在西部，故名华里西。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，华里西创村于明洪武十八年（1385年），明清至民国初年属潮阳县洋乌都，1921年属潮阳县第九区。[1]村级建制的演变，自近及远是：1999年恢复村委会，1986年改村委会，1983年称华里西乡，1958年公社化时称华里西大队，1950年属上练乡。[1]据百度百科，村里在1939年设了中共地下党支部，解放战争期间又是游击根据地，属革命老区村。[3]

经济[edit]

博雅地名网称华里西村是汕头市人造丝花生产基地，工业还有五金、塑料、电子配件、服装、玩具等。[1]2009年全村工农业总产值5亿元，集体经济收入265万元，曾获「广东省模范村民委员会」「广东省文明单位」等称号。[1]华里西村在2020年至2022年连续入选淘宝村名单。[1]
