历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，大西洋、小西洋创村于明正统年间，即1436年至1449年间，沟美创村于明成化年间，即1465年至1487年间。[1]村级建制的演变，自近及远是：1999年恢复村委会，1986年改村委会，1983年称美西乡，1958年公社化时分设沟尾、小西、大西3个大队，后并为美西大队，1950年属高华第三乡。[1]
经济[edit]
农业以水稻、甘薯为主，工业以针织睡衣、服装为主，村内有企业40多家。[1]2026年1月，美西村被评为广东省第二批「百千万工程」典型村；它在2020年至2022年连续入选淘宝村名单。[1]
