历史沿革[edit]
据博雅地名网，港美村建立于1504年（明弘治十七年），此后在明清至民国初年归潮阳县洋乌都管，1921年划入潮阳县第九区。[1]村级建制的演变，自近及远是：1999年恢复村委会，1986年改村委会，1983年称港美乡，1958年公社化时属港尾大队，1950年属仙港第二乡。[1]博雅地名网称它是侨乡和移民老区。[1]
经济[edit]
农业以水稻为主，工业有服装、旅游用品、睡衣、五金等。[1]村曾获广东省「文明村」「广东省生态示范村」「汕头市无毒村」等称号。[1]
