大布上社区在司马浦镇镇区南面，面积4.002平方千米，有2480户、14442人，辖3个自然村。[1]当地原有大布上、大布下两处聚落，南边的称大布上，社区以此为名。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

据博雅地名网，村子建于明洪武年间，即1368年至1398年间，因早年村民多以织布为业，起名“大布”。明清至民国初年属潮阳县洋乌都，1921年属潮阳县第九区。[1]村级建制的演变，自近及远是：1999年恢复居委会，1986年改居委会，1983年称大布上乡，1981年改称大布上大队，1958年公社化时属大上大队。[1]博雅地名网称它是侨乡和革命老区村。[1]

经济[edit]

社区以水稻种植为主，耕地约1267.7亩，工业有纺织、服装等行业。[1]社区曾投入资金装修小学校舍，并筹资修建市场和村容绿化设施。[1]
