东门社区是汕头市金平区金砂街道下辖的社区，居委会在东门大路东十五巷，分4个居民小组。[1][2]名称取自它在金砂乡的东面位置。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

此前归金园区管辖的金砂街道。2002年1月居委会重新设置，东门居委会和金美居委会合并成现在的东门社区；2003年3月起由金砂街道管辖。[1]

地理与人口[edit]

社区离金平区人民政府驻地约0.69千米，在其西北侧，面积0.22平方千米。东面是金新路，南面是新美路，西面与南门巷、金美街相接。博雅地名网记有1848户、6635人，辖区内办有学校1所、幼儿园3所，金新路和金新南路是主要道路。[1][2]
