潭石村是马头镇辖下的行政村，在新丰县东北部[1]。据博雅地名网所载沿革，1953年设乡，1958年改称大队，1984年改设乡政府，1990年成为管理区，1998年起为村民委员会，沿用至今[1]。2026年3月，潭石村被认定为「广东省第三批“百千万工程”典型村镇」[1]。2021年9月，第二批「一村一品、一镇一业」专业村名单中，潭石村以百香果入选[1]。潭石村名列2019年9月公布的2018年「广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位」名单[1]。

潭石村的九栋十八井（兴昌围）是一座客家大宅院，始建于清康熙初年（约1660年），到嘉庆六年（1818年）竣工，历时158年[3]。因第四栋的预定用地业主不肯转让，原设计的九栋纵深布局改为横三栋、纵三栋，共九栋；每三栋六口天井，合计十八口，故名[3]。占地七十多亩，大厅的门框、门槛用青石雕成，厅内悬有“竹梧堂”“三世六品”“奉天敕命”等匾额[3][2]。

据百度百科，宅院由温氏先祖温天水主持修建，总建筑面积1.5万平方米，有166间房屋，2019年被纳入第五批中国传统村落名录[4]。前栋厢房的浮雕屏风在2003年1月被盗[3]。村内另有自然村九栋十八井村[5]。
