民主村位于炭步镇东北部，面积约10平方千米，下辖13个村民小组，花都大道和花赤路两条公路经过村境。[1]村名取村民由多个姓氏组成、和睦相处之意。[1]广州花都汽车城一期、二期也在辖区内。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

民主村建村于清代。1987年设至塘、大田、民主三个村委会，1992年撤销至塘、大田两个村委会，并入民主村。[1]

经济[edit]

村内农业种植农作物、花卉、水稻和蔬菜，兼营畜禽和鱼塘养殖；工业有五金加工、生铁铸造、电子制造、建材等。[1]2021年、2022年民主村连续入选淘宝村名单。[1]

文化[edit]

搜狐号文章称，民主村是炭步镇以客家人为主的村落。[2]太平天国人物赖汉英出自该村的赖屋村，他是洪秀全之妻赖莲英的弟弟。[2][3]
