石湖村位于炭步镇区东面，面积约3.23平方千米，下辖3个村民小组，镇污水处理厂在其辖区内。^[1]村名因祖祠前有一方石底的湖而来。^[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村民相传南宋时汤观锡建村，之后陆续有南海胭脂塘上汤村的村民迁来定居。1949年10月广州解放后成立石湖乡；1960年中社、东方、坎头合并为东方大队，因花山另有同名，改称石湖大队；1983年改石湖乡人民政府；1987年1月设石湖村委会。^[1]

据搜狐号文章，石湖村以汤氏家庙为中心，每年正月十六游社灯，并有飘色表演，正月十二还有投灯；2019年汤氏家庙曾被龙卷风严重损坏。^[2]

村内农业种植水稻、蔬菜、花卉、莲藕并养鱼，工业有台资工艺厂和五金加工企业。^[1]
