历史沿革[edit]
南宋祥兴二年（1279年），凌、何、张三姓在此建村；何、张两姓后来人丁稀少，村子以凌姓为主，称凌边。新中国成立前曾改称灵山乡，其后恢复原名；公社化时期为凌边大队，后改称凌边乡，1987年成立凌边村民委员会[1]。快懂百科则写作元初建村[2]。
名胜古迹[edit]
番禺节孝流芳牌坊位于凌边大庙附近，建于清咸丰二年（1852年），花岗岩三间四柱三楼式；凌雷门、凌栋墓在飞凤岭，原建于元代，清光绪五年（1879年）重修，两位墓主是南宋抗元将领；凌边会堂建于1961年，屋顶用工字钢搭成「人」字形[1]。
民俗[edit]
每年农历七月初七，村里有摆七夕、演粤剧、设宴聚餐的习俗，是番禺少数仍保留乞巧文化的村落[2]。
经济[edit]
全村689户2342人，设10个生产队，耕地1817亩，以土地和鱼塘出租为主要收入，租地者多种花卉；2009年集体经济总收入约600.6万元[1][2]。
