地名与沿革[edit]
此地原是大刀沙与薄刀沙两个沙洲，后来相连成长条形，起初称大薄刀沙，其后简称大刀沙[1]；快懂百科则解释，沙洲东西狭长、形似一把刀，故名[2]。新中国成立前属石碁村，土地改革后归前场（今前锋）；公社化时期并入前锋大队，1971年才分出，另立大刀沙大队；改乡后称大刀沙乡，1987年成立村民委员会[1]。
交通[edit]
快懂百科载，岛上居民长期乘小渔船出入，2001年之后才添置了机动船；2007年12月，番禺区动工兴建大刀沙路桥工程，包括德怡大桥、观龙大桥两座桥梁，计划让大刀沙与观龙岛通路[2]。
经济[edit]
村集体收入主要来自耕地和鱼塘发包，2009年集体收入52万元，村里并规划发展观光农业[1]。
