九佛街道在广州市黄埔区北部，东邻从化区太平镇，南接龙湖街道，西、北两面与白云区钟落潭镇相连。[1][3] 它由原九龙镇改设而来，2019年设立；辖区内的莲塘、燕塘、重岗三村是传统村落，北部属中新广州知识城的范围。[1][2][4][5]

历史沿革[edit]

1931年这一带属番禺县第七区，称凤凰乡；1949年改称九佛乡，1958年划入广州市郊区，1960年设九佛人民公社，至1986年改为九佛镇，1987年郊区改称白云区后属白云区。[2] 2004年九佛、竹料、良田三镇并入钟落潭镇；2005年萝岗区设立，原九佛镇区域划归萝岗区，2006年与增城的镇龙镇合并为九龙镇。[2] 2014年萝岗区并入新的黄埔区；2019年3月省政府批准撤销九龙镇、设立九佛街道，4月18日街道办事处揭牌。[2][4]

地名由来[edit]

当地的传说是：明代乡绅们议定去佛山请十尊佛像回乡供奉，挑担的壮士过钟落潭时，一尊佛像滑落水中，只带回九尊，供在山顶小庙，此地称「九佛」。[1] 九佛旧时又称「凤凰乡」，得名于中部的凤凰山，山形如展翅的凤凰。[1]

行政区划[edit]

街道辖穗北社区和红卫、凤尾、蟹庄、枫下、佛塱、燕塘、莲塘、山龙、重岗9个行政村；博雅地名网另列有凤凰社区。[1] 知识城的报道称街道共有78个经济社。[5]

地理环境[edit]

街道面积，博雅地名网记约56.82平方千米，百度百科记55.67平方千米。[1][3] 气候属亚热带季风气候。[3] 广州地铁14号线在街道内设红卫、新南、枫下三站。[4]

经济[edit]

街道在中新广州知识城北部，是城区与乡村之间的过渡地带；规划中南部为新乡村示范带，北部承接生物医药、集成电路等产业。[5] 知识城还推进「九佛五村七片」融合改造，把各村分散的建成区和留用地连片开发。[5] 2023年，街道集体经济总收入达18689.11万元。[3]

名胜古迹[edit]

莲塘村2013年8月列入第二批中国传统村落名录。[4] 燕塘、重岗两村为广州市传统村落，与莲塘同被视为陈氏族人聚居的古村落群。[5][6] 山龙村的武台寺据寺志所载建于唐代，1958年被拆毁，1998年起重建，2017年获批为佛教活动场所。[7] 佛塱村的上南客家围屋列入黄埔区传统风貌建筑名录。[8]
