历史沿革[edit]
1953年起属莲塘乡（辖莲塘、燕塘、重岗三村），1958年改称洋埔大队，到1973年才单独成立燕塘大队。[1] 1984年设燕塘乡，1987年2月成立白云区九佛镇燕塘村委会，2019年起属九佛街道。[1]
地名由来[edit]
村中元母山有燕子筑巢，又称燕巢山，山下有大片水塘，得名燕塘。[1]
地理环境[edit]
村委大楼后有一片150亩的元母山自然生态林；耕地约1500亩，以稻谷和蔬菜为主。[1]
名胜古迹[edit]
黄埔区历史文化保护对象名录列有燕塘村的仁圃堂、燕塘街23号官厅等传统风貌建筑。[3] 编制保护规划时，原定的永九快速路会占用古村前的部分风水塘和8株树龄约200年的古荔枝树，后来线路局部改线，塘与树得以保留。[4]
