新塘社区位于莆田市城厢区凤凰山南麓一带，社区内有广化寺、释迦文佛塔等文物古迹。社区1994年6月设立，曾获得市级文明村镇（社区）的确定。[1]

建置沿革[edit]

1994年6月，新塘居民委员会正式设立。[1]

文物古迹[edit]

南山广化寺位于社区的凤凰山南麓。寺院先称金仙庵，隋代改为金仙寺，北宋太平兴国元年（976年）起以广化为名。它是省级文物保护单位，百度百科称其为汉族地区的全国重点佛寺。[1][2]

释迦文佛塔坐落于广化寺东边，建造时间早于南宋乾道元年（1165年），塔身为八角形五层石构，是全国重点文物保护单位。[1][3]

南山月峰寺在新梅自然村，原名「月峰禅院」，寺院的历史可追溯到唐代；宋代之后寺址荒芜，明成化初年得以重建，万历年间又有拓建，「文革」时期遭毁坏。它在第九批莆田市级文物之列。[1]

欧阳詹墓位于广化寺北面；墓葬始建在唐朝，明清两代都曾修缮。墓向为坐西北朝东南，墓地占地180平方米。[1]

陈仁墓同在社区内，陈仁是南宋宰相陈俊卿的曾祖父，死后追赠太师、沂国公。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2021年3月，社区被确定为「莆田市第十五届市级文明村镇（社区）」。[1]
