新望村在海城镇西北部，是革命老区和经济欠发达山区村，博雅地名网记其有9个自然村、332户、近1500人，距县城8公里。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
新望的名称史是这样的：先在守望乡之内，1952年独立为新望乡，1956年改高级社，1958年改大队；1984年重新叫乡，1987年成村委会，1989年又改办事处，1998年重回村委会的名义。[1]
地理与经济[edit]
全村土地约16平方千米，耕地1200多亩；收入靠水稻、水果和其他农副产品，2009年人均收入五千多元。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2019年10月，新望村进入广东省卫生村名录；省乡村振兴局在2022年1月把它列为乡村治理示范村的创建单位（2021年度）；2026年1月，它又成为第二批“百千万工程”典型村。[1]
