桂林村是遮浪街道的行政村，辖5个自然村，总人口5005人，渔、农、林并举。[1]
名称与沿革[edit]
相传村子建于清代，村委会所在地旧称“葛秀”，到1928年大革命失败后才改叫桂林。[1]1961年设桂林大队，辖桂林、湖尾、五家、东联圩、东联五个自然村；1984年改乡，1988年改管理区，1999年改村委会。[1]
经济与文化[edit]
渔业以浅海为主，农业种水稻、花生，林业是沿海防护林；湖尾水库是全区的重要水利工程。不少村民外出办毛织、电器企业，舞龙是村里传统的娱乐活动。[1]街道2023年的规划里，桂林村要建一座约1000平方米的鱼丸加工厂，配套生产鱼胶、鱼丸一类水产预制菜。[2]
