1949年以前属第四区潘北乡，下设流坑肚、田背塘两保，因流坑肚人口较多，以此为村名。[1]1956年设流坑高级社，1959年起称流坑大队；至1983年改乡；1987年又称管理区；直到1999年起称流坑村委会。[1]
