村情材料载，全村1369人，耕地2712亩。[1] 据村内资料，贝水圩形成于清顺治年间。[3]
历史沿革与地名[edit]
1949年以前隶高要县第四区槎贝乡；1953年属第九区贝水乡，1959年7月起为永安人民公社的贝水大队。1983年4月改贝水乡，1986年11月改贝水村，1988年3月划归鼎湖区。1995年4月至2001年1月，这里是贝水镇辖地，贝水镇撤销后重归永安镇。[2]
地名由来：村靠近西江北岸而背向江面，称「背水」；圩市交易重货币财贝，「背」「贝」同音，渐称贝水。[3]
