新连村在鹤山市共和镇西南部，距镇区约4公里，村域面积20平方千米，由原新民、平连两个村委会于2004年合并而成，各取一字得名。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
清代属新化都，民国属第三区；1958年设新民大队、平连大队，1983年称新民乡，1986年称新民、平连管理区，1998年为两个村委会，2004年合并为新连村民委员会。[1]
地理环境[edit]
佛开高速公路从村西南经过，水泥大道通镇区，往西可达鹤城、址山和325国道。村内17条自然村包括獭山、二联、石迳、荔枝园、长坊、龙尾、古井、老屋、虎爪、松二、松一、连岗等。[1]
人口民族[edit]
2008年的人口为2874人，近2000人讲客家话；另有1607位华侨和港澳同胞。[1]
经济[edit]
有耕地3053亩、鱼塘1590亩、山地16600亩，主要种水稻、花生、蔬菜、莲藕和养鱼，也有村民外出务工或种植水果；人均纯收入6605元，全村经济总收入合计15858万元。[1]
2017年10月获第一批广东省卫生村称号，2021年12月再获广东省卫生村称号，2026年1月获评广东省第二批「百千万工程」典型村。[1]
