铁岗社区在鹤山市共和镇东南部，距镇区约1公里，面积6.4平方千米，前身为铁岗村民委员会，2004年4月30日改设为社区。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
相传此地早年住的是铁姓人家，吕姓仅有一户，后来吕姓人口增多、铁姓渐少，为纪念铁姓而取名铁岗。[1]清代属鹤山县新化都；1982年为共和公社铁岗大队，1983年称铁岗乡，1986年称铁岗管理区，1999年称铁岗村委会，2004年4月30日起称铁岗社区居民委员会。[1]
地理环境[edit]
东邻大凹村，南与新会区大泽镇潮透村相接，西连民族村。共和通往大泽的公路沿村的西南侧而过，与江门至鹤城公路相接。共有10条自然村：上格、西宁、北合、亨美、大巷、三闸、大元、东盛、东安、矮山。[1]
人口民族[edit]
2008年的人口为1689人，另有约2000位华侨和港澳同胞。[1]
经济[edit]
2008年的耕地为512亩，另有鱼塘678亩、山林2900亩，农业以水稻为主，兼种花生、瓜菜；人均纯收入7002元，全村经济总收入合计9314万元。集体有出租屋、商铺出租，另有粮食加工厂、油厂、木厂等私营企业。[1]
2023年4月，铁岗社区在共和镇农村头雁擂台比武中与平汉村同获二等奖。[2]
