历史沿革[edit]
村民自称祖籍太原琅琊郡，后南迁江浙，再辗转到福建、广东。南宋咸淳二年（1266年），王姓先祖从鹤山古劳龙井迁来定居，仰慕浙江钱塘的名声，取名「钱塘」。[1] 另一说法是王成庵举家自杭州钱塘江一带迁此，故名。[1]
1958年称钱塘大队，1983年称钱塘乡，1986年称钱塘管理区，1998年起为钱塘村民委员会。[1]
经济[edit]
2002年人口1098人，耕地34公顷，种水稻，旱地作物有花生、生姜。村集体收入主要靠出租拱桥市的商铺，村内有饭店、伞厂和小商店十余家。[1] 每年农历八月十五晚，村里照例舞龙。[1] 2020至2022年连续入选「淘宝村」名单，2023年5月钱塘村三村获评2022年广东省卫生村。[1] 《桃源镇总体规划》将钱塘列为以工业为主的中心村。[2]
