历史沿革[edit]
据地名资料，南宋咸淳四年（1268年），王姓人家从南雄珠玑巷迁到本县钱塘，又分支来此开村；清康熙三十九年（1701年）施姓人家从顺德龙山迁来定居。[1] 村庄原称黄竹蓢，后简称竹蓢，缘于村人多种竹，屋舍掩映在竹林中，村西北有桃源河流过。[1]
1958年称竹朗大队，1983年称竹朗乡，1986年称竹朗管理区；2004年村改居，成立竹蓢社区居民委员会。[1]
地理环境[edit]
社区下的自然村共6条：大岭、岗顶、金城、文边、井气口和竹朗，房屋依山坡层层而建。[1]
经济[edit]
2002年户籍人口1808，耕地33公顷，种水稻、养塘鱼；本地私营企业有化工厂、塑料厂和粮油加工厂，旅外华侨和港澳同胞合计3890人。[1] 村里传统的民间体育艺术有「金龙」表演。[1] 《桃源镇总体规划》把竹朗列为以旅游为主要职能的中心村。[2]
