桂林村位于江门市新会区罗坑镇西南，有8条自然村，因所在地有桂林寺而得名^[1]。2004年6月，原水东村并入桂林村^[1]。

历史沿革[edit]

村旧称石坑，民国到土地改革时期的小乡名雅称“石溪”，是黄姓村庄。黄居政的长子源深携米氏夫人，南宋时从南雄珠玑巷迁到新会城，源深的孙子平田来石坑开族^[1]。

民国时期归「第六区牛湾六堡乡（又称云峰乡）」。1958年入罗坑人民公社的牛湾管理区，次年称红星大队，1961年改隶牛湾人民公社；1982年红星大队更名桂林大队。1984年桂林、水东、六联三个大队合为牛湾乡，后来又分开设村^[1]。邻近的六联村也有黄姓族人，来源相同^[2]。

村情材料称村有耕地648亩、山地2484亩、鱼塘192亩，共1360多人，其中党员63人^[1]。

2009年，全村工农业总产值383万元^[1]。

2019年9月，桂林村列入2018年度广东省“民主法治示范村（社区）”创建单位；2023年5月，村内的聚奎村、坑美村、乔松村入选2022年度广东省卫生村^[1]。
