茂南社区在汕头市濠江区礐石街道，位于磊广公路旁，原茂洲村南部，1990年11月由茂洲村分出[1]。
历史沿革[edit]
茂洲村的得名与南北两聚落，见茂北社区条目[2]。社区简介称，明正德年间（约1506年），福建莆田人来此教书而创乡；明隆庆《潮阳县志》已有茂洲之名[1]。1990年11月，茂洲村拆为茂南、茂北二村；1996年改称茂南管理区[1]。
现状[edit]
2009年有289户、1213人；总面积950亩，其中林地160亩，鱼塭等养殖面积100亩，设有11万伏变电站和茂南小学[1]。2022年1月被确定为「2021年广东省乡村治理示范村」创建单位[1]。
