茂北社区在汕头市濠江区礐石街道，位于达濠高速路口东南侧，原茂洲村北部，萧姓聚居，是以种植西洋菜闻名的纯农社区[1]。
历史沿革[edit]
茂洲村位于濠江边的沙洲上，取草木繁茂之意，分南北两个聚落，南聚许姓，北居萧姓，历史上还有何、郑二姓[2]。明正统年间（1436—1450），邱姓先民在村东筑屋定居；明隆庆《潮阳县志》已载茂洲之名[1]。1986年12月设茂洲村委会，1990年11月拆为茂南、茂北二村[1]。
现状[edit]
社区面积1.2平方千米，分新老两个片区，382户1850人，耕地约160亩，集体收入靠塭地承包和磊广公路边铺面出租[1]。2019年9月上榜2018年广东省「民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单[1]。
