密下水村在南雄市全安镇北部，离镇政府约8千米，村名有一则「墨上水」传说。[1]
地名[edit]
博雅地名网记述的传说：此地水质极好，古时叫「墨上水」，县官常来取水磨墨；后来取水人以次充好，县官便说这该叫「墨下水」，南雄客家话「墨」「密」音近，遂成「密下水」。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1949年设密下水乡，隶属第六区的永和乡；1961年改大队，属全安公社；1983年改乡，1988年改管理区，1998年撤区建村。[1]
经济[edit]
约2009年前后的数据：21个村民小组，520户、2047人，耕地1864亩，山林2.5万多亩，集体收入来自石场和电站，主要种水稻、花生。[1]
荣誉[edit]
2026年1月获评广东省第二批「百千万工程」典型村；2021年12月获广东省卫生村称号。[1]
