地名由来[edit]
村后山上竹子多，且粗如水桶，故名大竹。[1]
历史沿革[edit]
1949年设大竹农会，1955年转为初级社并于冬季转高级社，1962年转为大队，1983年实行政社分设，改称乡，1988年转为管理区，1998年12月管理区改制，设大竹村民委员会。[1]
经济与荣誉[edit]
全村土地面积1447.6亩，林地4102亩、水田800亩、旱地500亩；村民收入主要来自水稻、辣椒和烟叶。2023年5月获广东省爱卫会授予「2022年广东省卫生村」称号，2019年9月列入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」。[1]
