1958年，村址所在的岭脚大队在黎少公社中设立；1961年改称赤岭大队，村名因此而来。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

1974年7月，赤岭随横岗公社并回黎少公社，建置未变。1983年改设赤岭乡，归黎少区；1986年改为村委会，1989年改为管理区，1998年9月撤管理区，重新设立村委会。[1]

文化[edit]

2019年9月，村子进入「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）」创建单位名单。[1]
