新建村属都城镇，为行政村。建国初期建行政村时，参照过去一个片村的名称定名为「新建」。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村中以聂姓为最早的迁入者，此后姚、欧、谢等多姓相继在此定居，至今仍以聂姓为最多。清朝时村地属十五都七堡所辖，民国时属第六区，后划入铜东乡。建国初期村地划归附城，1950年4月起设新建行政村，属郁南县第一区。[2]

1964年，数个生产大队合并为新建大队，此后经人民公社、乡等建制，1987年改设新建村民委员会，1999年起沿用至今。[2]

2019年9月，村上榜「2018年广东省民主法治示范村（社区）创建单位」名单。[1]
