横山村在惠来县城东南面约7.6公里，村子依丘陵而建。村民以农业为主，种植水稻、番薯及豆类，村子是革命老区。[1]

地名由来[edit]

村后有一条东西横贯的丘陵，名为横山，村因山得名。[1]

历史沿革[edit]

村始建于宋代，最初有吕、谢等姓居住，后吴、黄等姓陆续迁来聚居。现村内居民以吴、黄、张、纪、陈、宋等姓为主，其中吴姓最多。[1]

1949年至1958年间办过初、高级社。1958年至1983年公社化期间为大队；1983至1986年设乡政府，后于1987年成为横山管理区，直至1999年才改为横山村委会。[1]
