新地村位于华湖镇区，村中设有镇政府和派出所，下辖内新、外新、大王三个自然村。村名“新地”取自明代建村的历史。[1][2]

历史沿革[edit]

明景泰六年（1455年）始有人在此建村，村名因此为“新地”。之后又有数姓在村东侧聚居，分出内新地、外新地，统称新地。[2]

明成化十六年（1480年），吴氏十四世祖由溪洋村分居到外新地，此后村中以内新地为主村。[2]

1949年后农村实行土地改革，周边二个自然村（内新地、大王）并入，合为村级组织；1986年村中另设管理区，1999年起才成为村委会。[2][3]

据博雅地名网，华湖镇政府和华湖镇派出所均驻本村，村中有小学一所、幼儿园一所。农业以种植荔枝、龙眼、水稻、蔬菜、薏米为主。[1]

村中主要水系为龙潭水和百花尖水，二水在村东汇合后，经后脚溪流入雷岭河。[1]

民俗[edit]

20世纪90年代初，村中新建新地堂，供奉观音菩萨。[1]

荣誉[edit]

2024年3月，新地村获「2023年广东省卫生村」称号。[1]
