新建村是民众街道下辖的行政村，位于街道东部，2001年底由原新华、新民两个自然村与三角镇的新联吊耕村调整合并而成。[1]

地理与经济[edit]

全村由八个自然围构成，堤防总长约30公里；总面积6800亩，耕地6388亩，属纯农业村。[1]

种植以常年蔬菜、花卉为主，兼养虾与四大家鱼。2012年新一轮土地调整后，推行土地适度规模经营，土地发包价由每亩每年1000元左右增至2500元，村集体每年增收50多万元。[1]

人口与组织[edit]

村中有4222人，960户，设15个村民小组。[1]

2014年1月，村按上级要求成立党总支部，在册党员140名。[1]
