新联社区位于虎门镇，背靠将军帽山，村民姓邓，属客家语系。1958年，因修建横岗水库，部分村民从厚街迁入此地立村，村名取自「重新联力建设家园」之意。[3][1]

外来常住人口7000多人，户籍居民为552户1444人（2024年）。[2]

历史沿革[edit]

水库工程之后，有村民迁来立村，公社化时并入新联大队。1985年虎门与太平合并，此地成为新联管理区。2005年，它改设为新联社区居委会。[1]

移民与村名[edit]

村前有白坑水库，背倚将军帽山。村民原来住在厚街的戎旗墩村，水库工程使那里受浸，虎门接收了这批移民，安排耕地后在此立村。[3]

部分村民后来又移入怀德，另立新沙埔村。村名的来历，据东莞市政府网的村落介绍，取「重新联力建设家园」之意。1982年，该村被评为全省移民先进单位。[3]
