石下村是石牯塘镇下辖的行政村，位于镇的西面，距镇政府约1.5公里。[1] 村名原作「石霞」，后读作「石下」。[1]

村名来历[edit]

据博雅地名网，村西有一座石山，形状像一头狮子，狮头朝东，清晨迎着日出，人们便说狮子在迎接朝霞，因此得名「石霞」。[1] 年代久了，「石霞」的读音变成了「石下」。[1] 同一页还称，村民的先人自福建珠玑港迁来此地。[1]

沿革[edit]

石下村委会的组建日期是1998年10月7日，其前身经历多次更名。1951年的石霞乡政府、1958年的石霞生产大队、1983年再设的石霞乡政府，以及1986年的石霞村委会，都属于这一脉；1990年改称石下管理区。[1]

人口与村域[edit]
